Casey Forte scored a power play goal with just over three minutes left in the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and give the Chiefs a 4-3 victory. The win was the third straight for Cherokee. Dylan Bradley led Cherokee with two goals and one assist. Alex Nicolai scored two goals in his first game of the season for Moorestown. The Chiefs scored the only goal of the first period as Bradley and Cole Zucker broke in on a 2-on-1 with Zucker drawing over the defenseman and feeding Bradley for an easy goal. Early in the second period that same combination worked again as Zucker slid a pass from behind the net to Bradley and he buried the shot for a 2-0 lead.

Matt Olbrich put Moorestown on the board at the eleven minute mark of the period to cut the deficit to 2-1. Less than two minutes later Bradley and Zucker connected again this time short-handed and with Bradley feeding Zucker for the goal and the period ended with Cherokee leading 3-1. Moorestown would rally in the third period; first Nicolai would score on a breakaway at the eight minute mark to cut the lead to 3-2. Then with less than five minutes remaining Nicolai tied the game scoring on the power play.

Cherokee would capitalize on a power play with just over three minutes left as Forte put home a rebound and the Chiefs would escape with the 4-3 win. Justin Badurina made some big stops over the final minutes to preserve the win as the Chiefs are off to a good start in defense of their title.
