Garrett Quinn scored two goals to lead Washington Township past Delran 5-1 in SJHSIHL action played at Hollydell on Friday night. After a scoreless first period that saw Township spending the last half killing penalties they would get the offense going in the second period, scoring three goals. Quinn made it 1-0 early in the period on a nice set-up by Frank Hughes. Twenty seconds later Shane Moffatt had the puck deflect off his skate and into the net for a 2-0 lead.
Doug Sanders would make it 3-0 at the ten minute mark and after a slow start, Township seem to be rolling. A late goal by Delran’s Mike Dicioccio cut the lead to 3-1 heading into the third period. Missing top seniors Jonathan Smith and Kevin Mello, Township struggled offensively against Delran, which plays in the Tier 2 division. Billy Wharton would restore the three goal lead with just under six minutes left, scoring his first goal of the season and a 4-1 advantage. Quinn iced the game at the three minute mark as Township improved to 2-1 on the season.
