Over the years the Township-Clearview games have always been a huge draw at Hollydell and the games are usually entertaining. But with several incidents at last years game between these two teams, all in the stands and none on the ice, this game was moved to the Skate Zone in Voorhees and not many people decided to make the trek. Township won 3-1 in a game where neither offense did very much to distinguish themselves. Steve Sailor scored a power play goal, his first of the season to make it 1-0. Township added another in the final seconds of the period as Patrick Curiale made a good play to force the puck into the slot where Jonathan Smith deposited his shot into the net for a 2-0 lead after one.
Joseph Paul put Clearview on the board at the six minute mark of period two as he converted a penalty shot to make it 2-1. We stood that way until three minutes into the third period, Billy Wharton passed from behind the net to Mike Lorence at the point and his one-timer put Township ahead 3-1. Clearview could not muster any offense and closed the game killing a penalty. The two teams will meet again on January 2nd again in Voorhees; maybe the fans will travel to that one…
