Michael Wilson scored four goals and Steve O’Brien played a strong game in nets as the Wings of Steel defeated the Vineland Sled Stars 6-3. With the win the Wings remained unbeaten for the season at 12-0-1 as they go into their holiday break. Vineland controlled most of the play and out-shot the Wings 26-9, but thanks in large part to O’Brien’s solid play in nets the Wings were able to withstand the pressure that Vineland brought.

It took almost ten minutes before the Wings got their first shot on goal, but that was a breakaway by Wilson and he deposited the puck into the net and the Wings led 1-0. Wilson added two more goals, one right before the second period ended and the Wings seemed comfortably ahead at 3-0. After Isaiah Beck increased the lead to 4-0, Vineland started their comeback scoring the next three goals to cut the lead to 4-3. Isaiah gave the Wings some breathing room scoring at the five minute mark to make it 5-3.

Wilson iced the game in the final notching his fourth of the game and the Wings defeated Vineland in their home rink and capped off a strong first half of the season. Next up is a date with the Woodbridge Rangers on January 7th at the Skate Zone.
