Dylan Bradley and Cole Zucker each had two goals and three assists as Cherokee had little trouble in defeating Williamstown 8-2 in SJHSIHL action played at Hollydell on Friday night. With the win Cherokee has a seven point lead in the division and has all but clinched the top seed in the Tournament. The Chiefs wasted little time grabbing the lead as Bradley scored a power play goal just four minutes into the game with Zucker and Jason Spieker getting the assists. Spieker also had a strong game contributing three assists.
Bradley made it 2-0 just two minutes later as he and Zucker combined on the goal. Less than one minute later Joe Brunner made it 3-0 with Zucker and Bradley combining for the assists. Williamstown cut the lead to 3-1 as Matt Asis put home a rebound of a shot by Ryan Irlich with just under five minutes left in the period. Then on the power play Williamstown cut it to 3-2 as Jonathan Ruiz scored with three minutes. Casey Forte gave Cherokee a 4-2 lead in the final two minutes scoring with Spieker and Mike Buck assisting.
Midway through the second period John Cascio notched his fourth goal of the season to give the Chiefs a 5-2 advantage. Two goals by Zucker and one by Brett Fernandes closed out the scoring for Cherokee.
Notes: Cherokee did a good job in limiting Ruiz to one goal, as we head towards the playoffs the Chiefs look like a good pick to repeat, but stranger things have happened.
