Jared Hand and Eric Simone each scored twice as the EEW defeated Lenape/RV 10-3 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night in Tier II action. The EEW was in control from the start scoring three goals in the first period. Simone got things going in the first three minutes as he stole the puck at center ice and broke in on a breakaway and buried his shot for a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later Ross Bryan made it 2-0 notching his ninth goal of the year with Marc Duyan getting the assist.

Hand got his first of the night on the power play as Simone found him in the slot with just over five minutes left in the period and the EEW led 3-0. Nick Stengel was in good position early in the second period as he put home a rebound of a shot by Nick Di Bruno and the lead was 4-0. Goals by Chris Miller and Hand minutes apart gave the EEW a 6-0 lead just four minutes into the second period.

Ron Randall put Lenape/RV on the board with about four minutes left in the period to make it 6-1. Simone scored in the final thirty seconds to give the EEW a 7-1 advantage heading into the third period. Sam Belanger made it 7-2 just over five minutes into the period, but less than thirty seconds later Andrew Dolan’s slap shot from the point found the net and the lead was 8-2.

Jordan Kreifels scored his ninth of the season for Lenape/RV at the eight minute mark to make it 8-3, but goals by Nicky Bascou and Hand on a short-handed breakaway closed out the game for the EEW.

Notes: Next up for the EEW is a Friday night date with Township and I have a feeling that the EEW will be pumped for this game as we looked back over the previous three years the players that were on Eastern and Cherry Hill East, prior to merging this year, never beat Township, so this is their last opportunity. Should make for an interesting game.
