The tandem of Taylor Olson and Mike Vulpio combined for seven goals and eight assists as Clearview had little trouble in defeating Cherokee II 9-1 in Friday night action played at Hollydell. After a slow start, Clearview scored three goals in the final three minutes of the first period to jump ahead 3-0. Vulpio opened the scoring on a nice pass from Olson down low to make it 1-0. Then on the power play Olson and Vulpio hooked up again with Vulpio notching his second of the night with one minute left in the period.

Ten seconds later Austin Kohler connected for his first of the year with Vulpio and Olson getting the assists. Early in the second Olson found Joe Paul all alone in front for a tap in goal and the lead was 4-0. Olson joined the goal scoring barrage as Paul found him for a 5-0 lead with just over six minutes left in the period. Cherokee II broke through with about four minutes left as Tim Connolly netted his sixth of the season to cut the lead to 5-1. Olson however would score two more goals with Vulpio setting him up to give Clearview a 7-1 lead after two periods. Vulpio added two more, to give him four for the game as Clearview improved to 10-7 on the season and is just two points out of third place.

Notes: Clearview goalie was credited with an assist on Clearview’s last goal, his first point of the season. Next up for the View is a game against Lenape/RV at Hollydell on Friday.
