James Popp snapped a 1-1 game with just over two minutes left in the game as Cinnaminson defeated Black Horse 2-1 in Tier II action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. After a scoreless first period that had the Pirates out-shoot Black Horse 13-1. Early in the second period Brandon Greenberg broke through for Cinnaminson as he put home a rebound of a shot by Peter Selnek. Black Horse entered the game averaging over four goals per game but there offense was missing tonight as they managed just 15 shots and only four in the third period.
Black Horse’s best player was goalie Aaron Wechter as he stopped 35 shots and kept his team in the game. Ryan Mangin got the equalizer for Black Horse in the third period as he scored an unassisted goal with some hard work in the corner. That set the stage as Popp scored on a shot down low and Black Horse could not get the tying goal despite pulling the goalie for an extra attacker. With the loss, the EEW is now in position to win the division as they trail by just three points and have four games in hand.
