Alec Nicolai scored two goals as Moorestown defeated Washington Township 4-2 in playoff action at the Igloo on Friday night. Matt Olbrich scored the only goal of the first period as Moorestown controlled the play for most of the period launching 14 shots on Ryan McCusker but scored just the one goal. Goals by Pat Curiale on the power play and Jason Smith at the eight minute mark gave Township the lead at 2-1.
Nicolai would get the equalizer at the five minute mark, and Moorestown would continue their offensive pressure launching 13 shots but we would enter the third period tied at 2-2. Moorestown would retake the lead scoring a power play goal five minutes into the third period as Mike Katz got the goal with Nicolai and Tyler Pedersen assisting. Nicolai would ice the game with less than two minutes left as Moorestown advanced to the finals of the winner’s bracket and will face Williamstown.
