Mike Cullen and Eric Lauk each scored two goals to lead Clearview to their second straight Tier II Championship with a 6-2 win over Black Horse in action played at Hollydell on Friday night. Clearview came along way this season, starting out 0-3, including losing the season opener to Black Horse but finished the season strong as they were 6-1-1 in their last eight regular season games and return all but 2 seniors next year. Cullen got things going five minutes into the game as he scored his third goal of the playoffs for a 1-0 lead. Black Horse took advantage of a two-man advantage later in the period with Kyle Ringheiser getting credit for the goal.

Late in the period Clearview broke in 2-on-1 with Cullen getting his second of the night and Jeff Todd getting the assist. Early in the second period Lauk had just finished serving a penalty and he broke in with Tyler Richardson and Ryan Lauk and his laser shot clanged just inside the crossbar and the lead was 3-1. That’s where we stood entering the third period with Black Horse once again on the power play, but pesky Anthony Dellerose, the smallest player on the ice and just a freshman, broke in and scored a short-handed goal to give the View a 4-1 lead. Midway through the period Clearview capitalized on the power play with Lauk getting his second of the night and the lead was 5-1. Rich Brussco scored with five minutes left to cut the deficit to 5-2, but Richardson added an empty net goal in the final seconds.

Notes: Congratulations to Coach Walters and his staff on defending their title. Now it’s on to the Flyers Cup.
