Jordan Hoeft scored on two breakaways as EEW upset Clearview 5-3 in early game action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Michael Verdecchio stopped 23 shots for the EEW. Clearview jumped out early as Anthony Dellerose scored a power play goal just four minutes into the game. Just about two minutes later Justin Bryan would convert a pass from Sam Amon to tie the game at 1-1; it was Bryan’s tenth of the season. Robert Penrod would get a goal in the final three minutes to give Clearview a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Amon would score his team leading 16th goal of the season four minutes into the second period to tie the game at 2-2. Amon would send in Hoeft on a break at the nine minute mark and EEW had its first lead at 3-2. Three minutes later Hoeft intercepted a clearing pass and had his second breakaway goal to give the EEW a 4-2 lead heading into the third period. Nick Ramos’s eighth goal of the season in the opening two minutes got Clearview to within 4-3. Verdecchio made several key saves down low to keep Clearview from getting the equalizer. The EEW would add an empty net goal in the final seconds as Brian Stamm lifted a shot from his own defensive boards and into the net for the final goal.

Notes: The win was the 5th in a row for the EEW and they remain two points behind Mainland in the National division. EEW seems to be hitting their stride and should challenge Mainland for the title.
