The Cherokee Chiefs took some time out from their busy hockey schedule to take on the Virtua Wings of Steel in a sled hockey game on Sunday at Voorhees Skate Zone. The Chiefs got into sleds for the first time and skated against the Wings in an effort to raise some money for the sled hockey team. With the Flyers Cup starting this week and JVA playoffs last night the Chiefs showed up with 14 players and Coach Scott McKay and Matt Pinto to attempt sled hockey and experience what these kids do. RJ Conrad, senior goalie for Cherokee was outstanding in nets as the Wings peppered him with shots.

Garrett “G Man” Goebel led the Wings with his first career hat trick as the Wings won 5-3. The game wasn’t about winning or losing but how these young men gave up their time during playoffs and Flyers Cup to support a good cause. They were using muscles that they don’t ordinarily use and will wake up today pretty sore. Many thanks to Sam Libetti, Sam Berger, Matt Hall, Max Zeligson, Jake Kelley, Hunter and Connor Ray, Mike Andes, Darren Ambrose, Andrew Cardinali, Mike Deford, Dustin Patterson and Eric Ziegler for donating their time to a worthy cause.
