Cherokee built a 2-0 lead through two periods and would kill off seven power play opportunities as they defeated Kingsway 2-1 in Friday night action at Hollydell. Michael Deford scored his team high fifth goal at the four minute mark of the period to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Brendan Mohnacs would get his first of the season late in the second period and Cherokee took a 2-0 lead into the third period.

It appeared the Chiefs had scored early in the period to go up by three but one official waved off the goal and of course one minute later Kingsway would connect on the power play to pull within 2-1 as Joseph Bene scored his team high eighth of the year. The Chiefs would spend most of the period killing off minor penalties as Kingsway for the night was 1 for 8 on the power play, but Cherokee escaped with the 2-1 victory.
