Mike DeFord scored eleven seconds into the game and Cherokee never looked back as they stayed alive in the double elimination tournament with a 7-0 win over Washington Township. The loss ended the season for Township and Cherokee lives on to play another day. Andrew Lavdas stopped all 20 shots and Michael Andes led the offense with two goals. The Chiefs have won a majority of their titles going through the losers’ bracket and will have to do so once again this year. Andes made it 2-0 at the five minute mark on a nice feed from Darren Ambrose. With the period winding down Jeremy Ambrose made a nice move down the right side and picked the long side along the ice to give the Chiefs a 3-0 lead after one.

After a Max Zeligson goal at the four minute mark gave Cherokee a 4-0 lead, Township had an opportunity to close the gap with back-to-back power play chances but a short-handed goal by Dustin Patterson gave Cherokee a 5-0 lead with seven minutes left in the period. The Chiefs would add goals by Andes and Samuel Libetti in the third period to close out the scoring. The Chiefs will now face Moorestown in another elimination game next Monday.
