Johnny Pearson scored three goals and Luke Martini stopped 29 shots as Cherry Hill East defeated HLV 7-1 in the final game of the Tier II championship. The win gave East their second straight title. East had balanced scoring throughout and was the key to winning, along with solid goaltending from Martini. Luke Steele got things started early for East scoring just three minutes into the game. David Cutler put home a rebound of a shot by Steele to make it 2-0.

After Jack Amon made it 3-0 connecting for his fourth goal of the playoffs, HLV had a few power play opportunities but failed to capitalize and with four minutes left in the second period Pearson stole the puck down low as HLV was attempting to clear the zone and he went short side for a 4-0 lead. Thirty seconds later Pearson would get his second of the night with Eric First and Scott Collum getting the assists and East took a 5-0 lead into the third period.

Kyle Hill hit a streaking Ethan Chase down the left side at the eleven minute mark of the third period and Chase made it 6-0. HLV would get their only goal on the power play with Ryan Barley scoring to make it 6-1. Pearson would complete his hat trick as East had a two-man advantage for a full two minutes and Cutler would set-up Pearson for his third of the night. Coach Busler spoke after the game, “I am very proud of my guys we rolled four lines and everyone contributed, nice to win back-to-back titles”. Congratulations to Cherry Hill East, Coach Busler, Coach Amon and the rest of the staff.
