Sean Pomerantz scored four goals as the Eastern Vikings opened their JVA season with an 8-6 win over Kingsway. Bobby Johnson led Kingsway with a hat trick. Pomerantz scored the only two goals of the opening period as the Vikings dominated the period launching 15 shots to just four for Kingsway. Both goals came in the final four minutes of the period. Kingsway would score the first two goals of the second period as goals by Johnson and Dominick Mendek to tie the game at 2-2 midway through the second period. Pomerantz and Johnson exchanged goals at the ten minute mark, but a goal by Nicholas Buongiavini put the Vikings up 4-3.

Max Henjes would tie the game at 4-4 for Kingsway, but the Vikings would get late goals from Kevin McCafferty and Aadan Plank to take a 6-4 lead into the final period. Johnson completed his hat trick scoring a power play goal two minutes into the third period and Kingsway was to within 6-5. But goals by Pomerantz and Kevin Burns, two minutes apart gave the Vikings some breathing room at 8-5 with nine minutes left. Kyle Bomenblit scored right before the final buzzer for Kingsway to close out the scoring.
