Jacob Woody scored with five minutes left in the game as Kingsway defeated Shawnee 3-2 in late game action at the Skate Zone on Monday evening. The win was the first of the season for the Dragons. The first period was a seesaw affair as Shawnee would take a 1-0 lead on a goal by Tom Caputo, then Kingsway would respond one minute later as John Francis would get the equalizer. With just over three minutes left in the period Anthony Poppalardo would put Shawnee ahead scoring his ninth of the season and the Renegades led 2-1. Nicky Bellapigna would tie the game at 2-2 in the final thirty seconds and we would head into the second period all even.

Neither team would score in the period, with Kingsway having the better chances, but they failed to capitalize on two power play opportunities. Woody would get the game winner on assists from Francis and Matt Owens. Shawnee would have a power play chance on the final two minutes but could not get the tying goal.
