On a night when Cherry Hill East honored their graduating senior class with five varsity and three JV players, it was the underclassmen that came through as East defeated St Joe’s 4-2 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. John Gallen gave East a 1-0 midway through the first period with Thomas Papa getting the assist. Less than two minutes later Elliott Schon would score his tenth goal of the season and East led 2-0. St Joe’s goalie Mike Neal was keeping his team in the game as East outshot St Joe’s 14-4. Cooper Root would put St Joe’s on the board late in the period connecting for his sixth goal of the season and despite being outplayed, St Joe’s trailed just 2-1 heading into the second period.

The second period was much like the first as East launched twelve shots to just three for St Joe’s and once again Neal would keep his team in the game. East would get a late goal from Jacob Koren, his second of the season and East took a 3-1 lead into the third period. St Joe’s offense would come alive as they had nine shots in the period and Chris Corsaro would find the net at the eight minute mark to make it 3-2. Moments later St Joe’s had an opportunity on the power play to get even, but failed to capitalize and Calvin Aliferov scored with just over one minute left to dash any comeback hopes.
