Senior captain Jeremy Ambrose scored with 36 seconds left in the game to give Cherokee a 2-1 win over rival Moorestown in late game action in Voorhees. The win gives the Chiefs the number one seed heading into the tournament. Moorestown is four points behind with one game left, the Chiefs have completed their regular season. Sam Berger scored the only goal of the first period as the Chiefs led 1-0, Moorestown would have a few power play opportunities but Chiefs goalie Andrew Lavdas kept them at bay.

Each team would have a power play chance in the second period but no one would score, so we headed into the third period and the Chiefs up 1-0. Early in the period Cherokee was called for a penalty and Luke Dobbs would get the equalizer for Moorestown scoring his team high 14th goal of the season. It appeared we would end in a tie, but Jake Frankenfield would assist on Ambrose’s game winner.

Notes: Cherokee will now look to repeat as champions, starting as the top seed. However they play a red hot Township team that has won 6 in a row and is averaging over six goals a game during that stretch.
