Corey Owens scored twice, including the game winner with three minutes left in the game and Mike Lieze stopped thirty-five shots as Kingsway defeated Cherokee 3-2 in late game action at Hollydell. The teams traded power play goals in the opening period with Jeremy Durr scoring for Kingsway and Patrick Dugan who would convert a drop pass from Jack Ellis and go top shelf to tie the game at 1-1. Despite being outshot 15-5 Kingsway was all even thanks to Lieze.

After a scoreless second period, Kingsway would take a 2-1 lead as Owens would score in the first two minutes of the period. Ellis would get the equalizer as he converted a pass from Nathan Bridgers and we were all square at 2-2. The Chiefs kept the offensive pressure on as they launched 17 shots but Lieze would not give up another goal. Owens then broke in all alone with less than four minutes left and scored the game winner. The Chiefs pulled the goalie in the final minute but could not get the tying goal.
