St. Joe’s led 5-1 with just under four minutes remaining and withstood a three goal outburst by Clearview in the final three minutes and held on for the 5-4 win. Clearview had pulled the goalie and had a power play in the final seconds and would put the puck in the net right after the horn sounded but the goal did not count and St. Joe’s had the upset. The View started slow as St. Joe’s led by Deaglan Kelly’s three goals played inspired hockey throughout and got a strong effort in nets from Joshua Lindquist. The teams traded goals in the first period with Kelly scoring a power play goal at the eight minute mark and three minutes later Mario Leone tying the game for Clearview.

Goals by Kelly and a short-handed goal by Michael Henry gave the Wildcats a 3-1 lead after two periods. Cooper Root made it 4-1 early in the third period and Kelly’s third of the game at the eleven minute mark seemingly had iced the game for St. Joe’s. But goals by Vincent Marco and Christopher Geary got the View to within 5-3 with three minutes left in the game. With two minutes left Thomas Rockey scored and suddenly it was 5-4. Pulling the goalie gave Clearview an extra skater and they kept the pressure on but Ludquist would keep them at bay and St. Joe’s escaped.
