Sean Fleming scored five times and Clearview surrendered four short-handed goals as Rancocas Valley edged Clearview 8-7 in SJHSIHL play at Hollydell. With the win RV evened its record at 6-6; Clearview is still searching for their first win. Ed Moore led Clearview with three goals. The story of this game was RV’s ability to create scoring opportunities while being a man down, and Clearview unable to generate much offense with the man advantage.

After Moore gave Clearview a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the game, John Czarnick tied the game at 1-1 scoring a short-handed goal with RV down two men. On the back end of the advantage, RV scored again as Andrew Heinz out-hustled Clearview to the puck and his quick shot made it 2-1. Czarnick got his second goal with about five minutes left in the period for a 3-1 lead. Rob Savastano cut the lead to 3-2 late in the period, but Fleming scored on a break in the final seconds for a 4-2 RV lead after one. Fleming and Mike Walters exchanged goals early in the second period before Fleming added his third goal, again short-handed and RV led 6-3.

Goals by Moore and Luke Wileczek, his first of the season, cut the lead to 6-5 after two periods. With a chance to tie the game early in the third period, Clearview saw Fleming score once again, short-handed and the lead was 7-5. Alex Stewart finally converted a power play opportunity for Clearview to cut the lead to one goal again at 7-6. Fleming gave RV its two goal lead scoring his fifth goal, which they would need as Moore scored with just about one minute left to make it 8-7. Despite pulling the goalie Clearview could not get the equalizer.
