Ryan Badger scored twice and CJ Byrd stopped 29 shots as Holy Cross edged Shawnee 3-2 in SJHSIHL action at the Igloo. Evan Powell scored his second goal of the season early in the first period as Holy Cross led 1-0. Byrd had a busy period stopping all 11 shots. Badger made it 2-0 early in the second period scoring his 17th goal of the season. Shawnee did not generate much offense as Byrd stopped all 5 shots he faced.
Scott Parker put Shawnee on the board at the twelve minute mark of the third period scoring his tenth goal of the season to cut the lead to 2-1. With a chance to tie the game on the power play at the seven minute mark, Badger scored short-handed with Trevor Alspach getting the assist, to give Holy Cross a 3-1 lead. Vince Tascione scored with less than two minutes remaining to bring Shawnee to within 3-2, but Byrd shut the door and Holy Cross was able to hang on for the win.
