Mike Law had a hat trick and Brandon James and Joe Laird added two goals each as Mainland outlasted Cherry Hill West 12-9 in Tier III playoff action. James Privito led West with six goals and Marty Bell added three. The two teams combined for eleven goals in the first period, with Mainland scoring seven, including goals by Dalton Bew, Austin Klock and Bill Tomlin as well as Law and James.

The second period saw order restored as West out-scored Mainland by a 2-1 count, as Privito and Bell brought them to within 8-6 after two periods. Dennis Padick scored the lone goal for Mainland and it was anyone’s game heading into the third period. Laird put Mainland up 9-6 scoring at the six minute mark, but goals by Bell and Privito less than one minute apart brought West to 9-8 with five minutes remaining. Law gave Mainland a two goal cushion as he scored with about ninety seconds left, but Privito cut the lead to 10-9 just twenty seconds later. Cody Gray clinched the game with one minute left and Laird added a goal in the final seconds.
