Eight different players scored for Cherry Hill East as they skated past Eastern 8-3 in JVA action last night in Voorhees. With the win Cherry Hill improved to 13-1-1 and increased its first-place lead to three points over Moorestown. Sean Pomerania gave the Vikings their only lead of the night scoring six minutes into the opening period. Cherry Hill would respond scoring three goals in a spin of just over one minute. After Brian Cutler tied the game at 1-1, Connor Bryne and James Vona scored goals twenty seconds apart and Cherry Hill led 3-1.

Jake Stone stopped all 19 shots as Cherokee defeated Kingsway 3-0 in JVA action played at the Voorhees Skate Zone on Sunday night. Sean Young scored the only goal of the first period with Tony Breen getting the assist. Breen was just recently named SJIceHockey’s player of the year in JVB. Kingsway had two power play opportunities in the period, but Stone was equal to the challenge as the Dragons would fire 10 shots but could not get one past Stone.

We are pleased with the league allowing us to recognize several players and a coach and their outstanding contributions they have made for their team. With at least two to three players considered for each category, we have finalized our decision. The tradition continues here at SJIceHockey as we honor the best of 2018-2019 season in the SJHSHL. Joe Mosco and Kyle McGarvey each scored two goals as Washington Township JVA defeated Clearview 6-2 in a benefit game played at Hollydell on Wednesday night. Chad Diehl got the win on nets for the Minutemen. Township took a 3-0 first period lead on goals by Mosco, Angelo Durnan and Anthony Lonasco. Clearview would respond early in the second period as Mario Leone scored in the first minute to cut the lead to 3-1.

Sean Pomerantz had a hat trick and Jordan Stein added two goals as the Eastern Vikings JVA squad defeated the Clearview JVA team 7-4 in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Connor Reagan led Clearview with two goals. After a scoreless first period, the Vikings would score three times in a span of ten minutes. After Reagan opened the scoring with a power play goal two minutes into the second period, Stein would tie the game thirty seconds later. Pomerantz would net his first at the nine minute mark and Patrick Armano would connect on the power play to give the Vikings a 3-1 lead heading into the final period. Clearview made an early charge as goals by Reagan and Konnor Savvas tied the game at 3-3 less than two minutes into the period.

Sean Pomerantz scored four goals as the Eastern Vikings opened their JVA season with an 8-6 win over Kingsway. Bobby Johnson led Kingsway with a hat trick. Pomerantz scored the only two goals of the opening period as the Vikings dominated the period launching 15 shots to just four for Kingsway. Both goals came in the final four minutes of the period. Kingsway would score the first two goals of the second period as goals by Johnson and Dominick Mendek to tie the game at 2-2 midway through the second period. Pomerantz and Johnson exchanged goals at the ten minute mark, but a goal by Nicholas Buongiavini put the Vikings up 4-3.

Matt Marzo scored two goals as Moorestown rallied from a 2-0 deficit and opened the JVA season with a 4-2 win over Cherry Hill East. Ben Snyder and Joe Furgiuele scored goals less than one minute apart early in the first period to give Cherry Hill a 2-0 lead just six minutes into the game. Moorestown would capitalize on the power play at the eight minute mark as Charlie Silverian scored to make it 2-1 after one. Marzo would get the tying goal at the ten minute mark with Jacob Delgado getting the helper and we headed into the third period tied at 2-2.
