All good points, and to follow up on that, my position for every game I attend is the scorers box so I can get the goal scorers from the refs, and some times the ref does not even give a second assist when one is deserving. Bottom line, its still impressive to see the numbers Fleming has put up, even last year when he set the assist record.

this would be an impressive accomplishment if the great amount of scoring he does wasnt on cherrypicking breakaways and all gathered up on the bad teams in the league. why doesnt he show up when games are closer against better competition when his team needs him more for example he has been held to 2 pts in 1 game vs 3rd place cherokee a 2 pt game to holy cross a 1 pt game vs charging shawnee and a 0 pt game to 1st place washington township...but can put up 11 pts against williamstown who has 1 good player and a 7 pt 8 pt n 9 pt night against the bottom 3 teams in the league thats really impressive (sarcasm)

RV is a middle of the pack team in the league so of course hes going to have a decent amount of points against lesser teams , but then again where does that put guys like Sarin and DeAngelo who are on a first place team? I guess that would make all their points against bad teams if they are in first place? Also, with RV having so few players it allows the top teams such as Moorestown, Cherokee, and Township to divert most of their attention to shutting him down which is what most smart coaches would try to do against a player who is putting up so many points.

Sarin will smash the record next year. He is the fastest kid in the league as a junior. The league is nothing like before. The best team in the league this year would most likely lose to an average team in the league 5 years ago.

i said nothing hateful. i also did not say that some one was erroneously entering points for him from the score sheet. SJHockey, that must be your own idea. what i said was that when there are no names on the back of jerseys, it makes it harder for refs to see who actually got the points. and as someone who has done many scoresheets, i know that refs often ask the players who got the goals/assists after a goal is scored. Like I said in my first post, i think Sean Fleming is a good player. He's just not a team player. I think the next guys in line under him are team players and if they played more for themselves than they did for the team like sean does, they would have surpassed his stats. i'm not impressed with individual stats since this is a team sport, and the fact that SJhockey felt the need to toot Fleming's horn speaks for itself. Sarin will surpass Fleming next year and Bascou would have this year if he wasn't often put back on defense. maybe if fleming didn't hover at the blue line, he could have been able to do more back-checking and helped RV get higher up in the standings since their team is more talented and skilled than their record shows. The fact that someone had to start this thread about his great accomplishment proves to me that whoever that person is has influenced sean to play for himself and not the team making him think that his own personal STATS are more important than the success of the team. Maybe that is true in tennis or golf, but not hockey. He may be THE TOP SCORER but that does not make him THE TOP PLAYER. Any skilled player can rack up points if they are in it for themself more than they are in it for the team.

Some valid points smellyfish, the one knock that some people have on Fleming, yourself included, is that he hangs at center ice, and honestly I have heard that, and for all 24 games I cannot speak to, but I made it a point over the last 2 games that I covered to watch that and I had the scorekeeper do the same. And I can tell you that he did not cherry-pick, in either of these last 2 games. That being said, no matter what the opinion, to have the numbers he has there has to be some talent there. But you're right about being a team sport, and I think in the playoffs you will see the best TEAM win, sometimes that's not the most talented.
