I think you missed the point or I didn't explain myself enough. Your team has just 4 players with more goals than assists, of those 4 only one has more that a 2 pt spread between goals/assists. What I did see I have also seen in other teams, and that is there are times when the player comes in with the puck, and has a defenseman on him, the goalie squared up to him, and a team mate wide open, and the player still shoots rather that make a simple UNSELFISH pass across to his teammate, who could have tapped the puck in for an easy goal. In your RV game, your players came in on 3 on 1, and not one pass was made. They played as individuals to me, looking to do it by themselves rather than as a team. On a 3 on 1 or 2 on 0, you should score. Individual play works against some lesser clubs, or players, but not against the higher calibre.
I say your team meaning township because you say you have seen all their games, and you must be a parent or big fan. You have a good team, but they could be better, and would be better if your team plays more like a team than individuals. Players get as many points for an assist as they do for a goal. And as Mike pointed out, this has been the same way for a long time. You will see in championship teams, this occurs less often.
let's go back into history, first last years championship game Moorestown vs Cherokee. Moorestowns first goal was scored because the player was a team player, and gave up the puck to his teammate while there was one Cherokee player on him, and a second coming to him. He got in close, the goalie was squared up to him for the shot, and the kid slid the puck across for the easy tap in. That is teamwork and unselfishness. That is what wins a TEAM a championship. Also lets look at your Flyers Cup game last year, I forget your opponet, but late in the game you were down, and pulled the goalie. The other team came out of the zone and one kid had the empty net. Two other of the players came into the play with him. This kid could have easily put the puck in the net for the goal, instead he slid a pass to the second player, who passed it to the third, and into the net. All three got points. They padded their stats, but they also didn't care who got the goal, they knew all were getting a point on the empty net goal. In this case, I think you take the sure thing, but if you have two team mates who bust into the play, why not have them get some credit. Don't take it personal, your team just isn't at the same level yet as last years Moorestown championship team, or the club that beat you in the Flyers Cup. Did I hit the bulls eye with my slingshot?
