Opening Round in Flyers Cup has Mixed Results

The opening round in the Flyers Cup for the SJHSIHL, which sent 5 teams this year, produced a bag of mixed results, here is a brief recap:

Clearview played Kennett and lost 6-2, Andrew Michael and Ken Rodgers scored the goals for Clearview, which generated only 14 shots in the loss.

Shawnee blasted Plymouth Whitemarsh 12-4, as they exploded for seven goals in the second period, led by Matt McDonald, Ryan Welsey and Joe Crespo each with two goals.

Washington Township edged William Tennent 3-2 on Jonathan Paolo’s power play goal late in the third period. Chris Rainey was solid in nets stopping 33 shots.

Cherokee was pounded 10-1 by Pennridge and despite there run in the playoffs, did not have much left for this tournament.

Moorestown lost to Strath Haven 5-2 with Ben Smith scoring both goals for the Quakers. Moorestown controlled the third period launching 13 shots but was held scoreless.
