Cherokee built a 2-0 lead through two periods and would kill off seven power play opportunities as they defeated Kingsway 2-1 in Friday night action at Hollydell. Michael Deford scored his team high fifth goal at the four minute mark of the period to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Brendan Mohnacs would get his first of the season late in the second period and Cherokee took a 2-0 lead into the third period.

Six different players scored for Clearview as they defeated Mainland 6-4 in SJHSHL action played in Voorhees. The View would use a three goal first period to take charge with Christopher Geary putting the View up 1-0 just over three minutes into the game. Mainland would tie the game at 1-1 midway through the period on a goal by Jack Hassett, his second of the season. Goals by Justin Dalonzo and Derek McKinley on the power play gave the View a 3-1 lead after one period. The goals came ninety seconds apart and when Brendan Bainbridge scored just over one minute into the second period the View led 4-1.

Luke Riley scored a power play goal in the final four minutes to snap a 4-4 game and give Eastern a come from behind 5-4 victory over Kingsway. The Vikings trailed 3-0 midway through the second period as Kingsway built their lead on two goals from Joe Bene, who would finish with a hat trick, and the first goal of the season from John Francis. The Vikings would get on the scoreboard at the nine minute mark of the second period with Ethan Raeuber getting things going for the Vikings. Three minutes later Jacob Findley would get his first of two goals on the night to bring Eastern to within 3-2. Just over one minute later the Vikings would tie the game at 3-3 as Shane Mehalick would score his first varsity goal and we had a brand new game.

Anthony Carite scored three straight goals in a span of two minutes in the second period to help St Joe’s defeat Middle Township 6-3 in Tier II action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. The two teams would trade goals in the first period with Middle Township taking a 1-0 lead at the three minute mark on a goal by Paul Stryker. Twenty six seconds later Chris Corsaro would tie the game for St Joe’s at 1-1. Less than one minute later St Joe’s would take a 2-1 lead on a nice shot from Robert Diehm as his blast went right under the crossbar. Nico Corsaro would tie the game at 2-2 for Middle thirty three seconds later.

Luke Martini stopped 28 shots and five different players scored for Cherry Hill East as they defeated HLV 6-2 and improved to 8-1 on the season. HLV would open the scoring as Samuel Swain would score his fourth of the season at the six minute mark, but East would come right back forty seconds later as Nicholas Carr would get his second of the season and we were tied at 1-1. Cherry Hill would take the lead for good with Jacob Starr-Costello getting his first of the year and after one period Cherry Hill led 2-1.

On a night that Washington Township recognized their five seniors, it was junior forward Dominic Garozzo who stole the show scoring four goals to lead Washington Township over Kingsway 6-1 in a rare Wednesday night contest at Hollydell. Garozzo, who seems to do everything fast, now has 19 goals on the season, which is tied for the top spot and has led Township into a first place tie with defending champion Eastern. After Kingsway applied early pressure, but with Kyle Rink playing solid in nets, Kingsway would score their first and only goal late in the period as Corey Owens would get one by Rink for a 1-0 lead. Just about one minute later, Garozzo would create a scoring opportunity with his speed and on a feed from Chad Castorina would get the tying goal.

For the last six years Kingsway High School Hockey Organization has donated their time and energy to collecting food and donations for the Food Bank of South Jersey. Once again the event was held at the Village Pub in Swedesboro. This year the team, in just over three hours was able to secure 900 pounds of food and $300 in cash donations. This effort will translate into almost 2700 meals. As Mike Messina stated, "this food will find its way to the dinner table of people less fortunate than all of us and that means more to our Organization than anything, it’s nice for us as a team when we do the drop and talk to the people at the food bank and get to see the difference our club is actually making".

Luke Dobbs scored with thirty five seconds left in the game as Moorestown came back from a 4-2 deficit to edge Kingsway 5-4 in action played in Voorhees. Five different players scored for the Quakes as they remained unbeaten at 5-0-2. Robert Wildish gave the Quakes a 1-0 lead ten minutes into the first period. Corey Owens, who would score twice on the night, tied the game at 1-1 in the final minute of the period. Owens would give Kingsway a 2-1 lead early in the second period, with Vince Salerno getting his second assists. JJ Fogelman would make it 3-1 just about five minutes later for Kingsway as they seemed to be in control.

David Cutler and Johnny Pearson each scored two goals as Cherry Hill East defeated St. Joe’s 6-0 in Tier II action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Jack Amon got things going for Cherry Hill scoring his seventh goal of the season midway through the first period to give Cherry Hill a 1-0 advantage. Pearson would follow less than two minutes later as East took a 2-0 lead into the second period. Cutler would score both of his goals in the second period to increase the lead to 4-0.

Gavin Dierkhising and Patrick Willever each scored three goals and Daniel Taylor and Austin Wilk added two goals each as Riverfront had little trouble in defeating Middle Township 11-3 on Monday night at the Skate Zone. A six goal first period jump started Riverfront tonight as Willever and Wilk each scored twice and Dierkhising and Alex Mayernik, his first of the season getting the other two.
