Alec Miller stopped all 19 shots as Washington Township defeated Black Horse 4-0 in JVA Playoff action. Nick Shute scored the only goal Township would need just forty one seconds into the game. Anthony Lonasco scored a power play goal late in the period and after one it was 2-0. Ryan Andrews would score an early power play goal for the Minutemen as they capitalized on a penalty by Black Horse at the end of the first. Black Horse had two power play opportunities late in the period but Miller kept them off the board.

Matt Marzo scored four goals as Moorestown defeated Williamstown 7-2 in JVA action played at Skate Zone in Voorhees. After Dennis Campbell gave Williamstown a 1-0 lead at the eight minute mark, just over one minute later Sean Humes would tie the game at 1-1. Goals by Marzo and Ryler Radziemski less than two minutes apart late in the period gave the Quakes a 3-1 lead after one.

Laura White is your typical athlete; works long hours at her day job, officiates local games at night, and does not have much time for anything in-between. But Laura is anything but typical. Just completing her third full season as an official for USA Hockey, despite being nagged by her brother John, who has been an official since he was 12, after she completed college, Laura moved to Virginia for work and when John sent her a link to a Level 1 seminar that was being held in Pennsylvania she decided to take the leap and heed her brother’s advice/nagging. Laura, never one to shy away from a challenge, received a blast email from the Southeast District Director of Women’s Officials about the possibility to work the women’s Districts in Nashville, and she happened to be skating with the President of the Southeast District - talk about right place, right time.

Maxim Kuznetsov had four goals and Connor Riley had four assists as Eastern defeated Moorestown 6-3 and advanced to the Championship round in the SJHSHL double elimination Tournament. The Vikings built a 4-0 lead through two periods before Moorestown would mount a third period comeback. Joe Arlotta gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead just one minute into the game. We would stay that way until less than five minutes left in the period when James McGrath would score just his second goal of the season and the lead was 2-0. Kuznetsov as it turned out would score the next four for the Vikings. His first coming just thirty seconds after McGrath’s goal and the lead was 3-0 after one.

Cherokee trailed 3-2 after two periods at the Igloo against Washington Township, but rallied with three goals in the third to escape with a 5-3 win and end the season for the Minutemen. Jeremy Ambrose led the offense with a hat trick, with two goals coming in the deciding third period. Cherokee led 2-1 after one on goals by Ambrose and Sam Libetti after Harrison Rauh had scored for Township.

Nick Pontoriero stopped 34 shots as Riverfront defeated Mainland 3-1 in playoff action at the Igloo. After a scoreless first period, Brandon D’Amato scored at the seven minute mark to give Riverfront a 1-0 lead. Later in the period Ryan McCormick would add a power play goal and a 2-0 lead after two periods. Pontoriero looked strong in nets through two periods and kept Mainland off the board. Daniel Taylor would score short-handed for Riverfront to make it 3-0 in the first five minutes of the third period.

Matt McIntosh stopped 27 shots and Anthony Poppalardo scored two goals as Shawnee upset Cherry Hill East in the opening round of the playoffs. Shawnee jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period and never looked back. Tyler Feast opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game. Poppalardo and Daniel Venafro would add goals later in the period for Shawnee. Poppalardo scored the only goal of the second period and Shawnee was in command entering the third period.

Christian Romeo had four goals and Brandon Eberly scored three as Moorestown upset top seed Cherokee 7-4 in the opening round of the SJHSHL double elimination tournament. Losing an opening round game is nothing new for the Chiefs as they have done, as they seem to choose the hard way to get to the finals, this year will be no different. Jeremy Ambrose put the Chiefs up 1-0 just twenty five seconds in, but goals by Romeo and Eberly two minutes apart gave Moorestown the lead for good at the six minute mark. Romeo would put home his own rebound with just eight seconds left in the period and the Quakes led 3-1 after one.

Enrique Espinoza broke a 1-1 game with just over one minute left in regulation as Williamstown defeated Kingsway 2-1 in the opening round of the playoffs played at Voorhees on Monday night. Mike Moss scored the only goal of the first period to give Kingsway a 1-0 lead. We stayed that way until midway through the third period when Justin Fortuna would get the tying goal for the Braves with Anthony Ianella getting the assist. It appeared we would be headed for overtime until Espinoza got the game winner with Drew Murtha getting the assist.

Riley scored both goals in the first period as the Vikings led 2-0. Jarrett Wharton would get a power play goal for Township early in the second period to cut the lead to 2-1. Kuznetsov would score an unassisted goal thirty seconds later and the lead was 3-1. Jacob Findley scored at the nine minute mark to give Eastern a 4-1 lead after two periods.
