Mike Deford had two goals and one assist as Cherokee defeated Eastern 6-1 in Tier I action played at the Voorhees Skate Zone on Monday night. The win evened the Chiefs mark at 1-1. Eastern fell to 4-2 on the season and was missing top scoring forward Max Kuznetsov, who will miss about one month due to an injury. Tonight the Chiefs got contributions from all their lines and generated 47 shots on goalie Isaac Bleicher, who despite giving up six goals played very well in nets. Jeremy Ambrose opened the scoring for Cherokee ripping a shot just under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead.

St Joe’s rallied twice from a three goal deficit with three goals in the third period to tie Riverfront at 4-4. Kevin Glass connected on the power play in the game’s final minute to help St Joe’s steal a point. Riverfront built a 3-0 lead on goals by Ryan McCormick, Patrick Willever and Austin Wilk. St Joe’s would cut the lead to 3-1 late in the second period with Evan Biesaida getting credit for his second goal of the season. Colin Sabatino would restore the three goal lead early in the third period as Riverfront would score on the power play and lead 4-1.

Eight different players scored for Cherry Hill as they rolled past Mainland 11-1 in Tier II action played in Voorhees. Four goals in the first period jump started Cherry Hill and they never looked back. Goals by Sean McKenna, in the opening forty five seconds, Ethan Chase three minutes later, Johnny Pearson on the power play at the eleven minute mark and Chase’s second of the night late in the period had Cherry Hill leading 4-0 after one. Tom Papa scored in the first ninety seconds of the second period to increase the lead to 5-0 before Anthony Santa Maria would get the lone Mainland goal at the four minute mark.

Kyle Rink stopped all 20 shots and Dominic Garozzo scored twice as Washington Township defeated Egg Harbor Township 4-0 at the Skate Zone in Atlantic City on Monday night. With the win Township improved to 3-1 on the season. Steven Kanakaris scored the only goal Rink would need, this one coming on the power play in the final ten seconds of the first period. Rink would play a strong second period as EHT would have 3 power play opportunities, including a two man advantage in the final minute of the period but several big saves kept EHT off the board.

On Wednesday night, two SJHSHL teams, Clearview and Williamstown, came together to compete on the ice in support of a Clearview family who is facing a battle with ALS. This is the second year in a row that the Clearview hockey club has run this fund raiser. Williamstown led for most of the game and had a 3-1 lead early in the third period, but Chase Dyar would score with just sixteen seconds left in the game, his third of the night and the View was able to escape with a 3-3 tie. The two teams played an additional five minutes but neither team could score. Both teams played vigorously with a high intensity throughout that was understandably fueled by the emotion of the evening, these young athletes came together in solidarity to show community support for one their own, a hockey family member.

Paul Stryker had a hat trick and Nico Corsaro added a goal and two assists as Middle Township broke out of their long winless streak with a 5-0 victory over Riverfront in SJHSHL game action played in Voorhees on Monday night. After going winless last season, including the playoffs we had to go back to the playoffs of 2015-2016 season when Middle Township defeated HLV 7-6, a span of 26 games. Tonight the atmosphere was different as Middle Township would gain confidence as the game wore on. Corsaro would score the only goal of the first period to give Middle Township a 1-0 lead. Goaltender Kyle Roscoe was strong in nets as Riverfront had back to back power plays early in the period but could not get one past Roscoe.

Max Kuznetsov had six goals and Conor Riley had five as Eastern defeated Williamstown 11-0 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. The Vikings put the game away with a seven goal second period as Williamstown had no answer for the Vikings top line. Kuznetsov scored in the opening minute of the game and Riley would follow suit three minutes later and it was already 2-0 just three minutes in. Kuznetsov would score two more goals both coming late in the period and Eastern took a 4-0 lead into the second period.

Logan Rutt had four goals and Anthony Carite added three as St Joe’s had little trouble with Cinnaminson in a 10-1 victory. Nicholas Jervas gave St Joe’s a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game scoring on the power play. Cinnaminson would score their only goal of the game at the five minute mark as Jake Bennett would tie the game at 1-1 scoring unassisted. St Joe’s would go on to score four goals over the next five minutes to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Kevin Glass and Carite would score goals nineteen seconds apart and Rutt and John Pleis would score one minute apart and St Joe’s took a 5-1 lead into the second period.

Dominic Garozzo had a hat trick, Mike Guarracino and Joseph Urban added two goals each as Washington Township defeated Lower Cape May 12-0 last night in Voorhees. Scoring a record setting eight goals in the first period Township had its best offensive outburst in a very long time. Mike Egan, Steve Kanakaris, Giovanni Torrie, Chad Castorina and Ryan Andrews also scored for Township. The offense would generate 43 shots in just two periods with Garozzo creating many scoring chances and also getting three assists to go along with his hat trick.
