Kyle Peters scored three goals and Matthew Kilkenny added two as HLV opened the season with an 8-1 win over Mainland at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Peters scored both goals of the opening period, one early and one late as HLV jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period. Matthew Saavas and Kilkenny scored goals ten seconds apart early in the second period to make it 4-0. Peters would complete his hat trick at the four minute mark with Saavas and Kilkenny assisting and the lead was 5-0. Bryan Knaust would connect on the power play at the nine minute mark and HLV was in control at 6-0.

Moorestown would connect for seven goals in the first period as they handled Lower Cape May 10-0 in the season opener for both teams. Christian Romeo, Robert Wildish and Luke Dobbs each scored two goals to pace the Moorestown offense. Romeo would add four assists as Moorestown jumped out early as Dobbs would score just twenty two seconds into the game. Less than Four minutes later Wildish would make it 2-0 and ninety seconds later Elias Sulpizio would get his first goal of the year and a 3-0 lead.

Max Kuznetsov had five goals as the Eastern Vikings pulled away from Williamstown with a five goal second period and defeated the Braves 9-2 in the league opener for both teams at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Conor Riley added two goals and three assists for the Vikings. Kuznetsov opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the game with Luke Riley getting the assist. Justin Fortuna would tie the game at 1-1 for Williamstown in the final two minutes of the period. Brian Zuckerman would score a power play goal in the final twenty five seconds and the Vikings led 2-1.

Michael Neal, formerly of Black Horse, stopped all 21 shots and Anthony Carite scored two goals as St Joe’s defeated Middle Township 4-0 in the season opener for both clubs. With the folding of Black Horse, Neal has found a new home with St Joe’s and he could not have asked for a better debut. Middle Township had three power play opportunities and Neal was solid in nets. Carite opened the scoring at the five minute mark with Nick Jervas getting the first of his two assists. Less than two minutes later Linden Trovillo would make it 2-0 with Joe Bryant and Chris Corsaro getting the helpers.

Cherry Hill vs RiverfrontDavid Cutler scored two goals in the third period snapping a 2-2 game as Cherry Hill East defeated Riverfront 5-3 in the season opener for both teams in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Ben Isakovich and Nick Carr scored goals less than three minutes apart in the first period to give East a 2-0 lead after one period. Riverfront would get two goals of their own five minutes apart in the second period with Gavin Dierkhising and Daniel Taylor getting the goals, to tie the score at 2-2 after two periods.

Clearview vs CinnaminsonClearview received goals from eight different players in defeating Cinnaminson 10-0 in the season opener for both teams on Monday night. Colin Hughes led the offense scoring twice, including a short-handed goal in the opening minute of the game. The View put up four goals in the first period against a very young Cinnaminson team and never looked back. After goals by Brendan Bainbridge and Hughes second gave the View a 3-0 lead, Chase Dyar would score the second short-handed goal for Clearview, his first of two on the night and the lead was 4-0 after one period.

The Flyers Sled Hockey team is our home-grown non-profit sled hockey team with an impressive record of multiple league championships, USA Hockey National championship and those awesome Paralympic Gold Medalists. The game of sled hockey continues to grow providing the opportunity to play a competitive sport to those athletes that might include loss of limb, spina bifida, spinal cord injuries and cerebral palsy. We also house Wounded Warriors.
