Nicholas Imperial and Gage Grist each had a hat trick as Mainland defeated Middle Township 9-2 at Voorhees Skate Zone on Monday night. The game was even at 1-1 after one period with Grist connecting on the power play and Jake Simone getting the Middle Township goal. Mainland would score five goals in the second period to take command of the game, two coming while they were short-handed. After Nolan Harring made it 2-1 in the opening moments of the second period, Imperial would score twice in a span of four minutes to make it 4-1 at the six minute mark.

Cherokee had 15 players get at least one point as they rolled by HLV 10-1 in early action played in Voorhees. Jake Kelley, Max Zeligson and Cody Sherman each scored two goals to pace the offense as the Chiefs managed 46 shots and avoided the penalty box. The game was just thirty six seconds old when Mike Deford gave the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Goals by Sherman and Trevor Ligeikis had the Chiefs up 3-0 just six minutes into the game. Ryan Lasalvia scored the lone goal for HLV at the eleven minute mark, but Sherman’s second of the night in the final minute gave Cherokee a 4-1 advantage heading into the second period.

Jarrett Wharton had three goals and two assists as Washington Township defeated Lower Cape May 9-2 at the Skate Zone. The nine goals was a season high for Township as they launched 52 shots. Township led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Donovan Haslet and Joe Crincoli. Crincoli’s second goal of the game midway through the second period had the lead to 3-0. Wharton would get his first of the night with just under four minutes remaining and Township took a 4-0 lead into the third period.

This past Thursday night the SJHSHL held its Junior/Senior Showcase draft with Team Giroux selected by Coach Popiolek from Black Horse and Coach Busler from Cherry Hill East and making the selections for Team Simmonds were Coach McKay from Cherokee and Coach Vulpio from Clearview. We tossed a coin to see who would get first pick and Team Simmonds won the toss and selected Nick Ramos, Team Giroux would select Zachary Faust with their first pick. The forwards were chosen first, total of 12, followed by 6 defenseman each team, then 3 alternates each team and finally the goalies. Here are the rosters:

Mike Moss has been a four year starter for Kingsway varsity program and has amassed 89 goals and 54 assists during his time with Kingsway and last night he scored six goals as Kingsway defeated Lower Cape May 8-2 in action played at Hollydell. Kingsway program returned to SJHSHL in 2013-2014 and Mike was a freshman on that team that did not win a game, but over the last 3 years Kingsway has grown into a successful program thanks to the leadership of Moss along with the staff led by Coach Francis and Mike Messina and will be a stiff challenge for Black Horse for the title.

Constantine Roustas second goal of the game early into the third period snapped a 3-3 game and gave Eastern a 4-3 victory over Black Horse in the late game played on Friday night at Hollydell. Roustas had given the Vikings a 1-0 lead at the midway point of the first period as Black Horse seemed sluggish in the early going. Braden Hawcroft made it 2-0 late in the first period as he scored on a breakaway. Black Horse would get something going on the power play in the closing seconds of the period as Zack Kelly would connect on a pass from Zachary Faust and the lead was cut to 2-1.

John Pearson and Jack Amon scored two goals each as Cherry Hill East defeated Washington Township 5-1 last night at Pennsauken Skate Zone. Pearson scored in the opening minute as East jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Just over two minutes later Pearson would make it 2-0 scoring his team high 14th goal of the season. Amon would make it 3-0 at the nine minute mark with Luke Steele getting the assist.

Bryan Knaust scored three goals and Zach Stoor added two as HLV defeated Egg Harbor Township 9-3 in the early game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. It took a while before the HLV offense got going but with just under six minutes remaining in the period Stoor gave HLV a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later Matt Saavas scored an unassisted goal and the lead was 2-0. EHT would capitalize on the man advantage to tie the game; first Zach Feliciano would score on the power play late in the period to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Conor Riley scored three goals and Eastern built a 3-0 lead and coasted to a 6-2 win over Cherokee and moved three points ahead of the Chiefs in the division. With both teams missing players due to holiday tournaments, Eastern would score an early goal as Dominic Fonte’s shot would deflect off a Cherokee defenseman. Riley would score the next two goals, first on the power play at the eight minute mark and then forty three seconds later he found the top corner and a 3-0 lead. Jeremy Ambrose would get the Chiefs on the board in the final minute to give Cherokee some life heading into the second period.

Griffin Conroy stopped all 25 shots and the Quakes scored 4 power play goals as Moorestown defeated Shawnee 4-0 in the late game at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. It seemed like every time Shawnee committed a penalty, Moorestown would capitalize. Early in the first period Charlie Banquier would connect on the power play for the Quakes, scoring his third goal of the season and a 1-0 lead. That was all Conroy would need as it turned out, but in the second period, one with 11 penalties called, Moorestown would have a golden opportunity once again early in the period, this time a two-man advantage but could not capitalize. But midway through the period Brandon Eberly would score the second power play goal of the game and the lead was 2-0.
