Ryley Bergeson scored all four goals as Shawnee defeated HLV 4-1 in SJHSHL action at Voorhees. HLV took a 1-0 lead as Conor Humphrey scored a power play goal at the nine minute mark of the first period. That lead lasted until the four minute mark of the second period when Bergeson would get his first from Ian Plummer and Todd Minshall. Five minutes later that same combination would hook up for the go ahead goal and Shawnee led 2-1 after two.

David Cutler scored a late goal in the second period as Cherry Hill and Eastern battled to a 3- tie in SJHSHL game action played in Voorhees. Maxim Kuznetsov had given Eastern a 1-0 lead at the six minute mark of the first period scoring a power play goal, his team high 18th of the season. Cherry Hill would get the next two goals over a three minute span, with Callum Scott getting his first varsity goal seconds after Kuznetsovs’ goal to tie the game at 1-1. John Pearson broke the tie scoring short-handed, his team high 10th of the season and Cherry Hill led 2-1 heading into the second period.

Trailing 4-3 to Cinnaminson heading into the final period, St Joe’s rallied for three goals to defeat the Pirates 6-4 at the Skate Zone in Pennsauken. Seth Zolda paced the offense with a hat trick, Dawson Nehring scored twice for Cinnaminson and Geno Sambucci assisted on all four goals. Mike Szabo scored the only goal of the opening period as Cinnaminson led 1-0. Nehring scored a power play goal in the first minute of the second period and Cinnaminson led 2-0.Zolda cut the lead to 2-1 just over one minute later, but the Pirates Mark Kordes scored on the power play to make it 3-1.

Justin Fynes got his second start in nets for varsity and stopped 18 shots and John McLaughlin scored two goals as Black Horse defeated Middle Township 3-2. With the win Black Horse improved to 11-0, Middle Township remained winless on the season. Paul Stryker gave Middle Township a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the game. Zachary Faust would tie the game at 1-1 just over one minute later scoring his league leading 24th on the year. McLaughlin would give Black Horse 2-1 lead moments later as he connected for his first of two on the night.

Williamstown JVA launched 43 shots and scored five times as they defeated Clearview JVA 5-4 at Pennsauken Skate Zone. Dennis Campbell led the offense with two goals; Nathan Smith had a hat trick for Clearview. The game was tied at 2-2 after one period with Smith and Nick Cicotasto scoring for Clearview and Tyler Spear and Ryan Shannon getting the Braves goals.

Ben Nugent scored two goals two minutes apart in the first period and Cherry Hill JVA never looked back in defeating Eastern JVA 6-0 at the Pennsauken Skate Zone. Eastern would only have eight skaters but would out-shoot Cherry Hill 45-40 but could not get one by goalie Jordan Hauler as he improved to 8-1 while notching his third shutout. Leading 2-0 after one, James Vona would score right off the opening faceoff for a 3-0 lead and goals by Brian Cutler and Sam Stofman three minutes apart had the lead to 5-0 after two periods.

Ryan Andrews scored twice and Alec Miller stopped 30 shots as Washington Township JVA defeated Shawnee JVA 6-2 in action in Pennsauken. It was Miller’s third win in a row and since joining the team in November is 5-3 overall. Ian Plummer and Steven Kanakaris traded goals in the first period with Plummer giving Shawnee a 1-0 lead at the six minute mark and Kanakaris tying the game late in the period. Township would score three goals in the second period to take command of the game. Joe Urban scored a power play goal at the five minute mark and five minutes later Harrison Rauh would get his first of the season and a 3-1 lead.

Brad Brodzik scored two goals as Black Horse defeated Mainland 7-1 and remain undefeated on the season at 11-0. Christian Corsaro opened the scoring early in the first period scoring a short-handed goal for a 1-0 lead. Brodzik would make it 2-0 with just seven seconds left in the period and would get his second of the night in the second and the lead was 3-0. Mainland’s best opportunity came on a breakaway by Brendan Blight, but Michael Neal stoned him to keep Mainland off the board. In giving up just one goal Neal’s GAA dropped to 1.50 on the season.

Dan Taylor scored two goals as Riverfront defeated Williamstown 3-2 in SJHSHL action played at Hollydell. Williamstown can look back on their failure on the power play tonight as they went 0-6, which included a two-man advantage for a full two minutes late in the second period and they failed to capitalize. Jake Elliott would put the Braves up 1-0 scoring his first varsity goal of the season midway through the first period. In the opening minute of the second period Taylor would tie the game on a breakaway for Riverfront. Patrick Willever would get his first of the season at the nine minute mark and Riverfront led 2-1.

Kingsway Ice Hockey has rebuilt their program over the last few years, coming so close to the championship, losing in overtime last year in the title game and they have continued their winning tradition by holding its 5th annual Food Drive on Saturday, November 19th. Thanks to the hard work and tireless efforts of everyone on the Kingsway Hockey organization, they collected over 600 pounds of food and a few hundred dollars as well. That amount of food will produce over 2000 meals over the holidays, and was donated to the South Jersey Food Bank.
