Tim Pagliuso scored with two minutes left in the second overtime as Shawnee defeated Cherry Hill East 7-6 and stayed alive in the double elimination tournament. Cherry Hill East saw its season come to an end. Dan Desrochers led East with two goals. East had a 5-3 lead entering the third period, but goals by Ian Smith and Mike Molinari tied the score at 5-5 with eight minutes left in the game. Bryan Ross scored at the six minute mark to give Cherry Hill East a 6-5 lead.

Dalton Bew scored two goals and added two assists and Mark Vandenberg stopped all 13 shots as Mainland defeated Lower Cape May 4-0 to capture the Tier III championship. Mainland dominated the first period firing 20 shots but could only manage one goal as Cape May goalie Brandon Adams was excellent in nets. Bew scored the lone goal late in the period and Mainland led 1-0. Bew set-up Jesse Solanik midway through the period and the lead grew to 2-0.

Cherokee averaged less than five goals a game during the regular season, but in there playoff opener against Rancocas Valley they erupted for eleven as they easily defeated RV 11-1 in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Anthony Santisi led Cherokee with three goals, Jason Spieker and Anthony Williams added two goals apiece. Wade Sander had the lone goal for RV. Defensively, Cherokee took away Fleming, never allowing him to get going offensively, and totally throttling the RV offense.

Mike Law had a hat trick and Brandon James and Joe Laird added two goals each as Mainland outlasted Cherry Hill West 12-9 in Tier III playoff action. James Privito led West with six goals and Marty Bell added three. The two teams combined for eleven goals in the first period, with Mainland scoring seven, including goals by Dalton Bew, Austin Klock and Bill Tomlin as well as Law and James.

Tyler Woyshner scored four goals and Mike Eni added a hat trick as Moorestown opened defense of its crown with a 9-4 win over Shawnee in playoff action at the Igloo. Shawnee led 3-2 early in the second period before Moorestown scored six consecutive goals to take control of the game in the third period. Robert Willwerth scored ninety seconds into the game as Shawnee led 1-0. We stayed that way until the final minute of the period; Woyshner tied the game at 1-1 with Alec Nicolai getting the assist. Then with twelve seconds left in the period, Nicolai gave Moorestown a 2-1 lead, but Shawnee scored the tying goal right before the buzzer as Gregory Nagy got credit for the goal.

Garret Quinn had two goals and one assist and Eric Naccarelli had two goals and two assists as Washington Township began its playoff run with a 10-3 win over Lenape. Kyle Young scored all three goals for Lenape. This could be a good sign for Coach Macchione as usually Sarin and DeAngelo are leading the charge, but tonight the second and third lines were major contributors and that should only help the Minutemen as they try and win the title.

Louie DeAngelo scored two minutes into the first overtime as the South defeated the North 6-5 in the second annual Junior-Senior Showcase game held at Hollydell. Eddie Sarin led the South with two goals and two assists, and was named the games MVP. Postponed by the storm from last week, and with snow hitting us hard this week, there was a good crowd on hand and they saw some good clean hockey. The South scored the lone goal of the first period as Eastern’s Billy Bascou scored at the nine minute mark. Despite both teams having offensive fireworks on all 3 lines, the goalies dominated the first period as Alec Zucker from Cherokee and Craig Rushmore from Moorestown were very stingy in goal.

Holy Cross scored four first period goals and held off Delran 6-4 in playoff action at the Igloo. Steve Petitte scored two goals, both in the first period to lead Holy Cross. The teams exchanged goals less than one minute apart at the ten minute mark as Petitte gave Holy Cross 1-0 lead but Cody Myers quickly tied the game at 1-1 for Delran. With two straight power plays Holy Cross took advantage as Petitte scored on the first man advantage and about one minute later Trevor Alspach made it 3-1 scoring on the power play.

Lenape upset Eastern 11-10 as they won the shootout 3-1, in a wild and crazy game at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night in a first round game in the SJHSIHL double elimination Tournament. In a game where the teams combined for 20 goals and 97 shots in regulation and the two five minute overtimes, we had to go to a shootout to decide a winner, but not without some controversy. More on that later.
