Ryan Lauk and Mike Cullen each scored two goals as Clearview defeated HLV 7-4 at Hollydell on Friday evening. The View is now 3-0-1 in their last four games and will look to extend that streak against Rival Township on Monday night. Sam Belanger gave HLV a 1-0 lead at the five minute mark, but Lauk would tie the game three minutes later scoring unassisted. Cullen would score the next two goals fifty seconds apart, late in the period to give the View a 3-1 lead after one period. Alex Mastrokyriakos and Belanger would get goals for HLV to tie the score at 3-3 midway through the second period.

Middle Township rallied from a two goal deficit in the third period and scored twice in a two minute span to earn a tie against HLV. Josh Mander and Kenny Weightman each scored two goals for Middle Township, Alex Mastrokyriakos had a hat trick and RC Randall had two goals to pace the HLV attack. Launching a season high 59 shots, Middle Township jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Weightman and Evan Rodgers. HLV would score four goals in a six minute span to take a 4-2 lead after one period, with Randall getting two, Mastrokyriakos and Colin Riera scoring one each.

What ever happened to that line?? “With all due respect”? Or, more simply put, whatever happened to respect? Having covered this league for 15 years now, you hear a lot of talk back and forth. Mostly it is just that, talk, chatter, harmless banter just shy of being aggressive or outright rude. Sometimes, though, it seems players lose sight of the fact that the referees are there for a reason. They are part of the game. Are they always right? No. Will they change their mind if you argue and curse at them about the call? Heck no. I have never seen a ref change his call after a player argues his case over a penalty that he believed he did not commit.

In their first game since upsetting Cherokee, Riverfront kept the winning attitude going as five different players scored to pace Riverfront to a 5-4 win over HLV. Alex Mastrokyriakos scored two goals to lead HLV. In a wild first period where the teams combined for seven goals, Riverfront never trailed. Nicholas Taylor opened the scoring just fifteen seconds into the game. Sam Belanger would tie the game at 1-1 three minutes later scoring his team high 13th goal.

Alex Mastrokyriakos scored on the power play for HLV with six minutes left in the game as the EEW and HLV skated to a 2-2 tie. With both teams playing in the National division, EEW holds on to the top spot as they improved to 6-1-1 and hold a one point lead over Black Horse with HLV just two points back. Chris Popp scored the only goal of the first period to give HLV a 1-0 lead. Sam Amon scored both goals for the EEW in the second period, both coming one minute apart.

The key for success to Washington Township this season will be contributions from most of their forwards, especially with the absence of a top scorer, and on Monday night six different players scored as they defeated HLV 6-3 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. After Colin Riera scored late in the first period to give HLV a1-0 lead, Nicholas Urban tied the game at 1-1 scoring just before the buzzer. In both their wins this season Township has gotten goals from eight different players and will need that balance to compete.

Five different players scored goals for HLV in a see-saw game with HLV scoring in the final four minutes for a 5-4 win over Clearview. Mike Cullen scored the first of his two goals on the night at the seven minute mark to give Clearview a 1-0 lead. Then in the last minute of the period HLV got the equalizer on the power play as Sam Belanger notched his second of the season to tie the score at 1-1 heading into the second period.

Dominick Newman stopped all 26 shots and Mainland used a 3 goal second period to defeat HLV 3-0 in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. After a scoreless first period, Robby Lemons notched his second goal of the season to give Mainland a 1-0 lead early in the second period. Goals by Nat Harring and Tyler Wan less than one minute apart late in the period put Mainland up 3-0 after two.

Goals by RC Randal and Colin Riera in the final three minutes of the game gave HLV a come from behind 4-3 win over St Joe’s in action plated at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Randal led HLV with two goals. After Sam Belanger gave HLV a 1-0 lead late in the first period, St Joe’s would tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by Daniel McDuff on the power play early in the second period.
