The EEW got strong goaltending from Shane Lippincott and two goals from Eric Simone as they defeated Washington Township 4-1 in SJHSIHL action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Having combined the schools of Eastern, Cherry Hill East and Cherry Hill West to form The EEW, this is a very talented team with strong goaltending and 3 good coaches behind the bench. And although this might have been game #17 for Township on the calendar, I can guarantee you that the EEW had this circled from day one.
Jared Hand and Eric Simone each scored twice as the EEW defeated Lenape/RV 10-3 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night in Tier II action. The EEW was in control from the start scoring three goals in the first period. Simone got things going in the first three minutes as he stole the puck at center ice and broke in on a breakaway and buried his shot for a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later Ross Bryan made it 2-0 notching his ninth goal of the year with Marc Duyan getting the assist.
Not having played a game in 24 days was evident last night as the EEW started slowly but scored late to defeat Cinnaminson 3-1 in Tier II action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Having last played on December 16th, a 4-1 win against Clearview, The EEW struggled to find their rhythm and had numerous power play opportunities, six to be exact, but failed to capitalize on the chances. Billy Bascou finally broke the scoreless drought with just 36 seconds left in the second period, scoring down low with Tyler Arsenault getting the assist.
Combining Eastern, Cherry Hill East and Cherry Hill West has produced a very formidable team that can compete at any level, as they displayed in their latest game against Clearview, which produced a 4-1 win at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Nick Bascou scored the only goal of the first period to give the EEW the 1-0 lead. After Joseph Paul tied the game at 1-1 at the nine minute mark, defenseman Tyler Dunphy notched his fourth goal of the season to give the EEW the lead for good at 2-1.
Lawrence Walker scored two goals to lead Shawnee past the EEW 6-4 in action at the Igloo. The teams traded goals in the opening period, which was dominated by Shawnee as they out-shot the EEW 12-4. Macklin Kaiser notched his fifth of the year to give Shawnee a 1-0 lead, but three minutes later Tyler Aresenault would score the first of his two on the night to tie the score at 1-1.
Five different players scored for the EEW as they defeated Lenape/RV 5-2 last night at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. With the win the EEW remained undefeated on the season. Lenape/RV broke out on top just two minutes into the game as Chris Popp put home a rebound of a Jordan Kreifels shot for a 1-0 lead. That lead lasted until the final minute of the period when Eric Simone followed up a shot by Jared Hand to tie the score at 1-1 heading into the second period.
Vada Mangum stopped 29 shots and Mike Katz scored twice as Moorestown and EEW skated to a 3-3 tie at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Friday night. EEW controlled the play for most of the first period but Mangum kept them off the board, stoning Eric Simone on a break at the six minute mark and later in the period making stops on Jared Hand and Simone once again to keep EEW off the board. Moorestown scored the lone goal of the first period right at the end of a power play.
Jared Hand had a hat trick and Eric Simone added two goals as EEW defeated Cinnaminson 6-3 in Tier II action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. In the new format of combining schools, the combination of Eastern(E), Cherry Hill East(E) and Cherry Hill West(W), have come together to form a very competitive team. Cinnaminson jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Sean Gault and Joe Calendo.
