Ryan McCusker stopped 38 shots including 20 in the third period as Washington Township defeated Moorestown 4-3 in Tier 1 action at Hollydell. Township never trailed and jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period. On a night honoring the seniors, Township had almost all of their players in the lineup, except defenseman Frank Hughes who was sitting out his final game of his suspension. Doug Sanders got things going just two minutes into the game as he scored on a rebound of a shot by Steve Sailor.

The SJHSIHL has put together an All-Star team consisting of juniors and seniors to participate in an All Star Tourney that will compete against teams from other Pennsylvania high school leagues. Each All Star team will play 2 games and showcase their skills in front of local college coaches as well as a selection committee that will ultimately select 20 skaters and 2-3 goalies to represent Team Philadelphia in America’s Showcase, a tournament that features players from all around the country competing against each other.

The EEW got strong goaltending from Shane Lippincott and two goals from Eric Simone as they defeated Washington Township 4-1 in SJHSIHL action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Having combined the schools of Eastern, Cherry Hill East and Cherry Hill West to form The EEW, this is a very talented team with strong goaltending and 3 good coaches behind the bench. And although this might have been game #17 for Township on the calendar, I can guarantee you that the EEW had this circled from day one.

Patrick Curiale ran his goal streak to four games as he netted a hat trick and Tyler Benton and Nick Urban notched their first of the season as Washington Township defeated Lower Cape May 8-0 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Benton scored the lone goal of the first period as Township led just 1-0 after one. Township broke open the game scoring four goals in a span less than four minutes in the second period.

Pat Curiale had two goals and one assist and Ryan McCusker stopped all 14 shots as Washington Township defeated Cinnaminson 3-0at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Friday night. With the win Township is now all alone in fourth place in the standings. Curiale opened the scoring at the midway point of the opening period scoring his 10th goal of the season with Jason Smith and Mike Lorence getting the assists.

Taylor Olson scored three goals, including two in the first period as Clearview jumped out to a 3-0 lead and defeated Washington Township 6-3 in a SJHSIHL game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Olson scored just over one minute into the game to give the View a 1-0 and Kyle Montgomery would make it 2-0 at the five minute mark. Olson closed out the period with a goal in the final twenty seconds to give the View a 3-0 lead heading into the second period.

Washington Township trailed 4-3 with two minutes left in the game, and goals by Garrett Quinn to tie the game and Jonathan Smith with thirty one seconds left gave Township a 5-4 win over cross-town rival Williamstown. The final few seconds was marred by a brawl at center ice, which otherwise ruined a great game by both teams.

Ryan McCusker stopped all 20 shots and Washington Township scored three goals in the first period as they defeated Lenape/RV 4-0 in a rare Wednesday night contest at Hollydell. With the win Township improved to 8-3. Township jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening period, scoring all three goals in a span of four minutes.

Washington Township had nine different players score a goal, setting a team record, as they had little trouble in defeating Holy Cross 9-1 at the Igloo on Monday night. Shane Moffett, Mike Lorence and Garrett Quinn scored goals in the first period to stake Township to a 3-0 lead. Township would blow open the game in the second period scoring five goals in an eight minute span.

Washington Township fell to Cherokee 5-4 at Hollydell on Friday night and when they look back on this loss, going 1 for 8 on the power play just won’t get it done. Missing Jonathan Smith didn’t help either, as one of the stalwarts on the man advantage, but at the end of the day, there were many opportunities. Pat Curiale scored one minute into the game, his first of two on the night, to give Township an early lead. Carl Seitz would score his first goal of the season about two minutes later to tie the score at 1-1

After spotting Cherokee II a 1-0 lead after one period, Washington Township used a five goal second period to motor by Cherokee II 7-1 in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Michael Buck scored a short-handed goal late in the first period for Cherokee II and despite being out-shot 23-5, the Chiefs led 1-0 thanks to some strong play in nets by James Witkoski.

Kyle Parks had a goal and two assists and Jonathan Ruiz added two goals as the Williamstown Braves defeated rival Washington Township 4-3 in front of a standing room only crowd at Hollydell on the night before Thanksgiving. Small in stature but huge in heart and determination Parks has never shied away from contact and it was clear early on that the senior forward wanted to provide leadership to his team.

Over the years the Township-Clearview games have always been a huge draw at Hollydell and the games are usually entertaining. But with several incidents at last years game between these two teams, all in the stands and none on the ice, this game was moved to the Skate Zone in Voorhees and not many people decided to make the trek. Township won 3-1 in a game where neither offense did very much to distinguish themselves. Steve Sailor scored a power play goal, his first of the season to make it 1-0. Township added another in the final seconds of the period as Patrick Curiale made a good play to force the puck into the slot where Jonathan Smith deposited his shot into the net for a 2-0 lead after one.

Garrett Quinn scored two goals to lead Washington Township past Delran 5-1 in SJHSIHL action played at Hollydell on Friday night. After a scoreless first period that saw Township spending the last half killing penalties they would get the offense going in the second period, scoring three goals. Quinn made it 1-0 early in the period on a nice set-up by Frank Hughes. Twenty seconds later Shane Moffatt had the puck deflect off his skate and into the net for a 2-0 lead.

Cherokee built a 4-0 lead in the second period and hung on for a 5-4 win over Washington Township in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Cole Zucker led the Chiefs with two goals; Garrett Quinn led the Township attack with two goals. After Zucker gave Cherokee a 1-0 lead by scoring the only goal of the first period, the Chiefs would score three goals in less than three minutes early into the second period to lead 4-0.

The long awaited start to the regular season for Washington Township began on Halloween night as they opened with a 6-0 win against Black Horse. Frank Hughes and Jonathan Smith led the offense with two goals each, Doug Sanders added a goal and three assists and Ryan McCusker kept Black Horse off the scoreboard. Black Horse, a Tier II club, suffers its first loss of the year. Sanders opened the scoring for the Minutemen scoring a power play goal five minutes into the contest. Just eighteen seconds later Sanders assisted on Smith’s first goal of the year and the lead was 2-0.

As they have the last few years Washington Township opened the season with a cross over game against a Pennsylvania team, Council Rock South and behind a hat trick from Doug Sanders and the strong goaltending of Ryan McCusker won 5-3 as McCusker stopped 36 of 39 shots. The teams traded goals in the first period with Garrett Quinn giving Township a 1-0 lead midway through the period and Council Rock getting the tying goal late in the period. Sanders gave Township a 2-1 advantage in the opening seconds of the second period getting his first of three.
