Six different players scored for Washington Township as they defeated Timber Creek 7-3 at Hollydell on Friday night. After each teams traded goals in the opening period, Dante Fleagle for Township and Mike Schwer for Timber Creek, Dylan Smith put Township ahead 2-1 midway through the second period. Schwer then tied the game at 2-2 scoring on the power play and netted his third goal of the evening scoring short-handed to give Timber Creek a 3-2 lead. Matt Fleekop tied the game on the same power play and we headed into the third period knotted at 3-3.

The third period was all Townships as they scored four times, three on the power play. Mike Nigro gave Township a 4-3 lead thirty seconds into the period with Ed Sarin and Doug Rose assisting, Fleekop scored his second goal of the game twenty five seconds later to make it 5-3. Two minutes later Jonathan Paulo put home a rebound of a Louie DeAngelo shot and the lead grew to 6-3. Mike Stoever shut down Timber Creek stopping all 10 shots and Sarin added another power play goal late in the game for the 7-3 final.

Notes: With only 6 seniors on their roster and 7 players who have scored 14 or more goals Township is a favorite to make it to the finals this year. And if there is a more rounded sophomore than Eddie Sarin, I haven’t seen him.
