Frank Garvey scored two goals seconds apart to fuel a five goal third period as Cherokee pulled away from Cinnaminson 7-2. Leading just 2-1 entering the third period, Cinnaminson was still in the game thanks to the stellar play in goal by Kevin Roth, who only surrendered goals to Jake Ahle and Pat Mohanics despite facing 30 shots. Justin Nugent had the lone Cinnaminson goal who managed just 11 shots through two periods.
The third period began with Cherokee rushing into the offensive zone and Garvey cutting into the slot for his first of two goals and a 3-1 lead/ Right after the face-off Garvey scored again to make it 4-1, and thirty seconds later John Quinlan had his point shot deflect off a defenseman’s stick and into the net for a 5-1 lead. Herb Hutchinson scored his first two goals of the season, both short-handed as Cherokee led 7-1. On both goals Hutchinson out-hustled the Cinnaminson defense to create the opportunities, and capitalized. Sean Joyce added a late goal for Cinnaminson.
