Steve Oriente scored his second goal of the game early into the first overtime as West Chester East defeated Shawnee 5-4 thus ending its Flyers Cup run. In front of a hostile crowd, Shawnee answered every time West Chester East took the lead.

Joe Pezzato scored at the five minute mark in the first overtime as Shawnee defeated Strath Haven 2-1 to advance to the semi-finals in the Flyers Cup. Led by Freshman goalie Alex Crespo, who was outstanding in nets stopping 40 shots on net, only, surrendering one goal over fifty minutes of hockey.

Joey Crespo scored seven goals and Matt McDonald added a hat trick as Shawnee handled Plymouth Whitemarsh 12-1 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Wednesday night. With the score just 1-0 after one period on a goal from Crespo, Shawnee broke the game open scoring seven goals in the second period. Crespo actually scored the first four goals of the game. Meanwhile brother Alex was stopping all shots by PW and his performance in nets should not be over-shadowed by the scoring out-burst of his brother.

Daniel Alessandrini snapped a 4-4 game scoring from in tight with just over one minute left in the game as Shawnee defeated Cherry Hill East 5-4 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Sunday evening. After a scoreless first period Shawnee jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by Brandon Jonas, Mike Peccini and Larry Walker. East got back into the game with goals by Eric Simone and Tyler Caton to pull within 3-2. Steve Nagy score late in the period to give Shawnee a little bit of a cushion at 4-2.

Using a shut down style defense and three goals by Jake Ahle, Cherokee advanced to the Championship round with a convincing 6-1 victory over Shawnee. Coach Sullivan after the game said, “We moved Pat Casey back to defense, he’s played there at times during the year, and we had a body on McDonald at all times”. That strategy along with the play of goalie Kevin Ferguson in the third period, were the keys to winning and now Cherokee must beat Moorestown twice in order to be the champs.
