Andrew Heinz had a hat trick as Rancocas Valley handled the Eastern Vikings 8-4 in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Sean Fleming set the regular season record for points as he added two goals and four assists and finished the season with 110 points, shattering the record set by Sean Sullivan in the 2003-2004 seasons. Fleming now owns the record in all 3 categories, as he set the goals record as well this year with 54, edging former line mate Mike Walsh, who set the mark last year. Coincidentally, Fleming set the assist mark last year with 58.
Let’s not forget about the season Heinz, a junior, had as well as he scored 31 goals and had 39 assists for 70 points. Back to the game as Cinnaminson scored in the opening seconds as Kevin Rafferty tallied his sixteenth goal of the season and the Pirates led 1-0. Heinz tied the game at the nine minutes mark with John Czarnick getting the assist; Czarnick was second on the team with 41 goals. RV has no trouble scoring goals, so they will be someone to reckon with in the playoffs. Cinnaminson took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Eric McDowell, but fifteen seconds later Fleming tied the score at 2-2. Heinz and Justin Nugent exchanged goals and Cinnaminson was still in the game at 3-3.
RV however would score the next five goals to take command. Fleming converted on the power play for a 4-3 lead, and goals by Heinz and Wade Sander made it 6-3. Pat Tricocci netted his third goal of the season for a 7-3 advantage and Sander added his second of the game in the final five minutes. Sean Gault scored in the last four minutes for Cinnaminson but they could get no closer.
