Jonathan Ruiz and Pat Curiale each scored two goals as the North defeated the South 9-2 in the Junior/Senior Showcase game played at Hollydell. After spotting the South a 1-0 lead on a goal by Eric Simone just over one minute into the game the North would score the next eight goals. Kyle Parks began the streak as he put home a pass from Ruiz right along the side of the net, Jason Spieker also assisted. That line created a lot of scoring opportunities all night. Curiale, playing with teammate Garrett Quinn would give the South the lead for good at the eight minute mark as he broke in with Quinn on a 2-on-1. Adam Seitz scored an unassisted goal thirty seconds later and the lead was 3-1.

Jared Hand and Eric Simone each scored twice as the EEW defeated Lenape/RV 10-3 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night in Tier II action. The EEW was in control from the start scoring three goals in the first period. Simone got things going in the first three minutes as he stole the puck at center ice and broke in on a breakaway and buried his shot for a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later Ross Bryan made it 2-0 notching his ninth goal of the year with Marc Duyan getting the assist.

Jordan Kreifels scored three goals to lead Lenape/RV to a 5-3 win over Holy Cross in SJHSIHL action played at the Igloo on Friday night. After a scoreless first period, Sam Belanger scored his fourth goal of the season to give Lenape/RV a 1-0 lead early in the second period. Kreifels made it 2-0 midway through the period scoring an unassisted goal. Holy Cross would bounce back to score two goals in the final six minutes as Brian Clegg notched his second of the season and Patrick Rizzo tied the score right before the horn sounded and we entered the third period tied at 2-2.

Summer is over, football season is starting, baseball season is winding down and that can mean only one thing, hockey season is drawing near. As we begin our 14th season covering the SJHSIHL, there are some changes taking place in the league, so we decided to attend the monthly league meeting to get caught up with the happenings. For starters, Tier III has been eliminated, and with graduation and other issues hurting certain schools, a Tier II division was created which allows schools to combine their teams in order to support a full roster.
