Ryan McCusker stopped 28 shots and Tyler Benton snapped a 1-1 game with less than three minutes left in the game as Washington Township defeated Cherokee 2-1 at the Skate Zone on Monday night. Tyler Lubrant scored the lone goal of the opening period as Township led 1-0. McCusker shut down the high potent Chiefs offense until the third period when Boomer Miller tied the game on the power play, converting on a 4-on-3.

That set the stage for Benton’s game winning goal with Riley Griffith getting the assist. With the win Township improved to 4-1 on the season and first place in Tier I. As a confidence builder this should go a long way for Township defeating the two time champs on their home rink.
