Doug Sanders and Austin Haslett each scored two goals as Washington Township defeated Shawnee 7-0 at Hollydell on Friday night. Haslett scored the lone goal of the opening period as he scored down low with just over one minute remaining. Midway through the second period the lead grew to 2-0 as Haslett notched his second of the night and sixth of the season. Zachary Burkhardt got the start in nets and stopped all 17 shots.

Township would break the game open scoring three goals over the next five minutes. First Eric Dale made it 3-0 with less than six minutes left in the period and less than one minute later, Ryan Wilson would put Township up 4-0 as Eric Sailor made a nice play at the point to find Sanders in the slot, and he spotted Wilson down low for a quick shot and goal.

Sanders got his first of the night and team leading 16th of the season scoring a power play goal in the final minute of the period to make it 5-0. Goals by Sanders and Dylan Souders in the third period closed out the scoring. Township goes into the holiday break 9-3 and firmly entrenched in third place. They will open 2013 at home against Cherokee.

Notes: We always like to pass along good news about South Jersey Hockey players and Eric Robinson, son of Maureen and Bud, has accepted an offer to play D1 hockey at Princeton University. Quite an accomplishment, congrats to Eric, mom and dad!
