Clearview failed to capitalize on some golden opportunities against division leader Holy/Lenape/Valley and lost 3-1 in the first game of 2013 for both clubs. The teams traded goals in the opening four minutes of the game, Sam Belanger scoring for H/L/V and Ryan Lauk tallying for Clearview. Matt Cloud would score his team high 14th goal late in the period to give H/L/V a 2-1 lead after one period. Doug Henkel started his sixth game in nets for H/L/V and would turn out to be the difference.

After a scoreless second period in which Henkel made several big saves, he would save his best work for the third period. Clearview began the period with a full two minute power play with a 2 man advantage. Henkel would stop every shot, some made easier by Clearview not screening in front, and protected the one goal lead. At the eight minute mark, Clearview would have a four minute power play, again Henkel made some big saves, including robbing Vulpio and Bishop down low.

Right after killing the penalty, H/L/V iced the game as Brian Clegg would score his 13th of the year to close out the scoring. Notes: During the last power play Matt Cloud did an outstanding job keeping the puck in the zone and fending off two defenders to kill almost one minute on the advantage. Clearview could have moved within one point of first had they won the game and with a game in hand, but suffered their third straight loss.
