Brian Miller had 4 goals and Aaron Huffnagle and Cole Zucker added a goal and three assists as Cherokee blew by Moorestown 9-2 and advanced to the Championship game next Monday. Jimmy Witkoski stopped 39 shots for the Chiefs who are one win away from their third consecutive title. Moorestown was a slight favorite coming into tonight, but never was in the game, Cherokee broke on top 2-0 in the first period on goals by Huffnagle and Zucker. Will Sulpizio got one back on the power play early in the second period, by three goals over the next three minutes broke the game open at 5-1.

Eleven seconds after Moorestown scored John Bellardine got that back to make it 3-1. Then Dylan Bradley on the power play pushed the lead to 4-1 and Miller’s first of the night made it 5-1 midway through the second period. Miller added his second three minutes later scoring a short-handed goal and it was 6-1 Cherokee. Casey Forte joined the scoring column late in the period and surprisingly Cherokee was coasting at 7-1 after two periods.

Two goals by Miller sandwiched around one by Joshua Pilatsky finished out the scoring. Next up for Moorestown is a game with Township with the winner playing Cherokee next Monday night.
