Eric Lauk had two goals and one assists as Clearview avoided elimination and defeated H/L/V 4-2 in Tier 2 playoff action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday night at Hollydell to decide the champion. H/L/V took a 1-0 lead just ninety seconds into the game as Karl Houwen scored his first goal of the playoffs. Clearview tied the score at 1-1 scoring their first of three power play goals as Lauk put home a shot by Matt Bishop. Two minutes later Bishop would score on the power play with Lauk getting the helper and Clearview led 2-1 after one period.
H/L/V scored the lone goal of the second period with RC Randall scoring unassisted. Both goalies, Max Ramos for Clearview and Doug Henkel for H/L/V had strong periods to keep the game even. Early in the third period with Clearview on the power play, Lauk came behind the net and was planted on the doorstep, Tyler Richardson’s shot was stopped by Henkel, but the puck came right to Lauk who banged home the goal into the empty short-side and Clearview led 3-2. Despite great pressure from H/L/V Ramos shut the door and Richardson scored an empty net goal to seal the win.
Notes: Looking for a big crowd at Hollydell on Wednesday night as both teams deserve support from their fans after such a great season.
