Austin Haslett scored twice, his second coming with less than two minutes remaining in the second overtime period as Washington Township JVA defeated Clearview JVA 4-3 and advance to the JVA Championship game. Township will meet Cherokee on Tuesday night at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. After neither team could score in the first period, Eric Benton put Township up 1-0 early in the second period. Clearview would commit back-to-back penalties to give Township a 2 man advantage and they would capitalize.
First Jimmy Pollock deflected a shot by Chris Cozzan at the four minute mark to make it 2-0. Then on the back end of the power play Haslett ripped a shot into the top shelf for a 3-0 lead. Clearview would get one back in the final minute as Andrew Sphuler scored to cut the lead to 3-1 after two. Midway through the third period Tyler Richardson scored on a shot from the point to make it 3-2. Then in the final seconds with the goalie pulled for an extra skater, Clearview got the tying goal as Eric Lauk scored down low with fifteen seconds left.
In the first overtime both teams were playing very defensive, waiting for one team to make a mistake. Early in the second overtime, Lauk had a chance but shot wide. That left it up to Haslett who delivered from the slot for the game winner.
