On a day that was perfect to play hockey outdoors, the Wings of Steel traveled to Central Park in New York to take on the NY Rangers. It was a cold brisk day where the players didn't mind playing hockey during the daylight hours at Lasker Rink in the middle of Central Park. Michael Mauger scored the only goal during the first period which proved to be the game winner. The Wings of Steel won this game 2-0 and ended their two game losing streak.
This was a game that most of the family members joined the team on a chartered bus and made the trip to New York. They would have something to celebrate when Mauger scored his fourth goal of the season with an unassisted goal at the 10:23 mark of the first period. The Wings would expand their lead when Garrett Goebel scored his first goal of the season early during the second period. Jesse Beck recorded the assist. Neither team scored during the final period and the Wings would enjoy that bus ride back to New Jersey earning their third win of the season.
