James Popp scored with just over four minutes remaining in the game to help Cinnaminson earn a 3-3 and salvage a point against unbeaten Mainland at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Liam McGurrin scored the only goal of the first period to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead. Mainland however would score the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead.
Nick Manning tied the game at 1-1 with his first of two goals on the night and the only score of the second period. Goals by Manning and Josh Handshaw gave Mainland a 3-1 lead five minutes into the third period and seemingly in control. And with a chance to add to their lead seconds after Handshaw’s goal with a power play, Cinnaminson got one back as Duke Madara scored a short-handed goal to bring Cinnaminson to within 3-2. That set the stage for Popp and the senior delivered with his team high 14th goal of the year with Chris Pawlikowski getting the assist.
