Paul Petrongolo scored two goals and Justin Widener stopped 22 shots as St Joe’s won the Tier III Championship with a 5-2 win over Mainland. Mainland scored the only goal of the first period as Nick Manning scored in the opening two minutes. St Joe’s would control the second period scoring three goals to take a 3-1 lead. After Thomas Gzregorski tied the game at 1-1 at the four minute mark, Nick Frangos would put St Joe’s in front two minutes later with Anthony Lovell and Daniel MacDuff getting the assists.

Petrongolo would score an unassisted goal late in the period to give St Joe’s some breathing room at 3-1. Josh Handshaw would connect for his second goal of the playoffs early in the third period to bring Mainland to within 3-2. Widener made several big saves including a game saving one in the final two minutes as Tim Vant had a breakaway but Widener stoned him to keep it 3-2, With the game winding down Mainland pulled the goalie for an extra skater, but Lovell and Petrongolo would add empty net goals to ice the game.

Notes: Congratulations to Coach Mento and his staff on winning the title. Mainland had a great season as well finishing unbeaten in the regular season.
